Hazy (Remaster) comes on the heels of Kearns’ 2020 EP, Jazzy AF.   Jazzy AF hit #1 on JAZZIZ Magazine’s “Top 5 Inside Tracks”, and was celebrated on Divide & Conquer Music for its “blend of sounds that creates a soundscape that listeners can easily get lost in… Jazzy AF sees the artist mixing genres and creating a new sound.”  Jef’s signature sound has also been lauded by the likes of Dawn Robinson (En Vogue), Eric Benet, James Torme, and Maxwell.   Jamal Ahmed host of the WCLK Atlanta’s “The S.O.U.L. of Jazz” tweeted Jef to be “Probably the dopest flautist in the game right now.”

The remastering of Hazy by Grammy-winning engineer Randy Merrill (Silk Sonic, Taylor Swift, Mark Ronson) brings a new pulse and charm to the energetic upbeat love song from his album The Flute.   The album maintained a month-long Top 20 position on the UK Soul Charts.)

Growing up near the Canada-US border, Kearns honed his skill by training with traditional jazz and classical teachers by day and playing along with R&B and hip-hop stations broadcasting out of Detroit by night. A unique style emerged, reminiscent of the expressive tones of an R&B singer.

Hazy combines Kearns’ instrumental virtuosity with the addictively cheerful vocal delivery by Karen Jewels over lush chords and layers of swirling melodic hooks.
